Manufacturing Modernisation Fund announced at Emesent

Karen Andrews, the Minister for Industry, formally announces the launch of the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund at Emesent

On Thursday the 6th of September 2019, Emesent welcomed Karen Andrews, the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology and Julian Simmonds, the Federal Member for Ryan, who formally announced the launch of the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund.  The 160-million-dollar fund will support small and medium sized Australian manufacturers to further grow their business.

The turnout to this event included local press and a range of industry leaders such as Trade Investment Queensland, CSIRO’s Data61, Austmine, METS Ignited and many others. The federal government saw Emesent as an ideal candidate for hosting the announcement given our Hovermap product is manufactured at our premises in Australia and distributed globally.

“Since launching Hovermap in January this year we’ve experienced significant demand and this is driving the need to grow and optimise our manufacturing capability” said Emesent’s CEO, Dr Stefan Hrabar.

“The Manufacturing Modernisation Fund would certainly help Australian companies like us to grow and remain competitive on the global stage.” continued Dr Hrabar.

Karen Andrews and Julian Simmonds were particularly interested in how Hovermap was assembled and spent time with our manufacturing team to understand the end-to-end assembly process. One of our Manufacturing Technicians, Thi Morely walked the MPs through the Hovermap build process, demonstrating the time and skill needed. The programming, calibration, testing and quality control are also vital steps in the process before the final products are ready for shipping.

We were excited to be part of such an important funding announcement and are looking forward to seeing the impact it will have on the Australian manufacturing industry.
