The preview point cloud saves you the processing time by providing a cut down version of the point cloud as a subsampled .PLY file that is downloaded through the USB and can then be viewed on a laptop.
To generate a preview point cloud, you need to ensure the Generate Preview Point Cloud toggle in the Web UI is on before the scan is started. Turning this on will increase both your file size and the time it takes to transfer to the USB flash drive.
